Scripture teaches that Christian giving is not about guilt or mere external obedience, but about a heart freed from the idol of money and ruled by Jesus.
For Jesus, generosity is not mainly external conduct but a matter of the heart: if money rules the heart, it will rule the whole life; if we are generous with God, it will be natural to be generous with others.
We are called to give generously, cheerfully, and sacrificially for the needs of others and the work of the gospel, trusting Him to provide.
When a Christian understands this, giving is no longer a burden, because the idol has fallen and Jesus now reigns in its place.
